Alexis Babini

In the past …year, as an independent artist, Babini toured from Vegas to Nashville, held a residency in Singapore, of all places, and played seven showcases at South by Southwest. And that’s in addition to finding song placements on shows like "The Real World", "I Used to Be Fat" and on Xbox Live. To date, he’s released two EPs: 2008′s Breaking It In and 2010′s Paint & Paper, and an eagerly-anticipated debut full-length is brewing on the horizon.

Performer Magazine has described his songwriting as having "powerful, gripping melodies and simple, yet evocative lyrics… pervasive."

He doesn’t want to simply perform a song for his audiences. He wants to get inside their minds and alter the way they perceive the world. Everyone knows about heartbreak but not everyone is able to transport the listener exactly where they were when they felt broken.

"Catchy is always the first thing that people notice about my music," admits Babini. "However, I want my next release to grow upon this, so instead of ‘Your song is really catchy’ I’ll hear more of this: ‘Your song just gave me goosebumps.’"

With the help of Soundwave Management, he’ll continue to write, tour and record, reaching new listeners and taking advantage of every opportunity that presents itself in the coming years. His influences range from classic acts like the Beatles, Tom Petty and Elvis Costello to modern hit-makers like The Script and Sara Barielles.

Music is more than just his passion… it’s in his blood too.

"My grandfather Italo Babini is a world renowned cellist," says Babini. "He has played Carnegie Hall, was principal cellist in the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and on the side he did session work for Motown Records. His cello can be heard in the background of Marvin Gaye’s ‘What’s Going On’ and numerous other artists such as Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, and the Four Tops."

Love is the main recurring theme that Babini often submerges his writing into, but he also talks about self discovery, hopeless confusion and the age old archetype of "The bigger the struggle, The greater the triumph."

Alexis Babini is a one-of-a-kind performer, and in the coming months, he plans to reach out to asmany listeners as possible in an effort to share his talents and spread his infectious, positive vibes with whomever is willing to give him a listen.
